TYPE OF SCHOOL
Pontyberem is a Category 1 school with approximately 250 children receiving full time education. Welsh is the main language of the school on a day to day basis.
This number tends to decrease in September but rises with the January and April intakes of new pupils.
At present children are admitted to school at the beginning of the term in which they reach their 4th birthday – in accordance with the Authority’s policy. The relevant dates are – 1st September, 1st January, and 1st April.
The statutory age for starting school is 5 years.
HOME SCHOOL AGREEMENT
The contribution of parents is of the utmost importance to secure the best education possible.
We believe in working in partnership with parents to achieve the best for our pupils. One strategy that we use in order to achieve this is to ask all new parents to sign a Home/School Agreement when their child starts school.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS/TELEPHONE NUMBER
It is important that parents inform the school immediately of any change of address or telephone number.
